Client: Cabo Del Sol, Casa Vista Ballena – Private

Request

Tall and spectacular centerpieces, super unique décor; cream colored with accents of olive and cobalt; a dream or fairytale – majestic yet whimsical.

Challenge: Part of the challenge was that the reception and the ceremony were in two locations approximately 30 minutes apart. In addition, high temperatures typical in Cabo during early summer, and the fact that all guest had access to the chapel before the event, all installations had to be set up mere hours before the event restricting the production time.

Floral Solution

For the ceremony: 36 strings of Dendrobium orchids (containing over 60 flowers per string) were hung at different heights from the three antique chandeliers inside the chapel creating a sensation of dripping candles. Standing aside each pew was a crystal vessel showcasing Curly Willow, accents of ivy and even more full stemmed Dendrobium orchids, which were also the main element in altar-side arrangements. Metal sculptured trees covered with moss and greenery, the linking element between the reception and ceremony, were custom made for the event. For the bridal bouquet, Stephanotis were used to create a sense of simple elegance.

For the reception: In order to enter the reception area, guests walked a 15-foot long tunnel (a custom made bamboo structure) lushly decorated with a perfect blend of Roses, Hydrangeas and Dendrobium orchids. The 14 columns at the villa were draped with sculpted vines of white roses creating a perfect fairy-tale-like dining area additionally beautified by a golf course and ocean backdrop. There was a special area designated for the bride and groom. Here, behind the setting for the cake and bridal party seating, structures were erected and covered with Curly Willow, Ivy, Tea leaves and arrangements made of more white Roses and Hydrangeas. To unify the concept (ceremony to reception), 20 strings of Dendrobium orchids were hung from the chandeliers within this area. The center pieces were designed to accommodate both rectangular and circular tables. With seating for over 150 guests, 14 five-foot tall center pieces were created to mirror the altar pieces from the chapel – Once again laden with countless Dendrobium orchids, draped with hanging spheres of mini white roses and hanging candles. Each tree helped to provide the floral forest that spanned the reception area – each wrapped in Peonies, Hydrangeas and Roses surrounded by cobalt blue place settings – providing the elegance for the evening festivities.

The place card table: Consistently with the center pieces, a tree was designed to hold the name of every guest seating assignment, creating a sculpture that was both stunning and engaging.

The lighting solution: Within each centerpiece tree, candles were placed to create a very magical atmosphere, illuminating the white semi-transparent petals of each flower. Votive candles were placed around the foot of each center piece to further highlight the grandeur of the moss-covered tree structure.

The final result: While Elena was adding final touches to the wedding cake, the bride and groom simply approached her, without a word, both giving her a kiss and big hug. Thrilled, they both said it was exactly as they had imagined it.
